Artist Bio

Asawari Salwan is a self-taught artist based in Gurgaon, India, renowned for her innovative exploration of texture and diverse art mediums. Born in Thane, Maharashtra, and raised in various parts of Gujarat, her rich cultural background profoundly shapes her artistic perspective. Although she is educated as a technology professional, Asawari’s true passion lies in the realm of art, a pursuit she has dedicated herself to for several years.
Her artistic journey has been highlighted by her participation in two group exhibitions, where her work was celebrated for its distinctive style and emotional resonance. Asawari believes that art should transcend boundaries and be accessible to all, serving as a means for individuals to explore and elevate different aspects of their lives.
As a certified expressive art therapist, Asawari integrates therapeutic techniques into her creative process. She delves into how various art media—such as painting, texture manipulation, and mixed media—affect the healing process. Each medium offers a unique flow that influences therapeutic outcomes. For instance, the fluidity of watercolor, cherished by Asawari for its flowing nature, evokes calm and introspection. The way water guides the pigment on paper mirrors the gentle, uncontrollable aspects of life, fostering a sense of surrender and acceptance.
Conversely, Asawari admires acrylics for their bold and vibrant nature. The quick-drying, opaque quality of acrylics allows for strong, decisive strokes, encouraging bold expression and creativity. This medium provides a sense of control and immediacy, which can be particularly empowering during the healing process. The textural possibilities of acrylics also offer a tactile, grounding experience, helping individuals connect more deeply with their emotions.
Her home, adorned with lush green plants, embodies her connection to nature and its restorative qualities. This serene environment not only inspires her art but also complements her holistic approach to healing. Each green corner, filled with various plants, creates a calming backdrop that supports her creative and therapeutic practices.
Through her platform, Amavi Art (www.amavi.art), Asawari shares her artistic journey and therapeutic insights, inviting others to experience the transformative power of art. Her work reflects a profound belief that art is not merely a commodity for one person or community but a universal language for everyone to consume and elevate parts of themselves.
